I am preparing to convert an older laptop to Ubuntu, but I need to do an image backup of my Windows 10 disk first. I have a 1TB MyBook Essential that I have used for several years as a secure file backup drive.
I now want to repurpose this 1TB MyBook as a dual partition drive with an image backup on one partition and a simple file backup on the second. However, all of the disk management knowledge (NOT guru level) I have is stymied by the apparent lockdown of the entire drive by the WD secure software package that is installed on the unit.
How can I get past the security software to modify the drive with W-10 disk management and ultimately make this an open drive that I can partition and format normally?
