Replacement drive for G Speed Q

Hi all,

I have a G Speed Q 12TB and one of the drives is flashing amber and therefore needs to be replaced. As this is a discontinued product can I simply purchase an Hitachi Ultrastar 7200 RPM 3Gbit SATA drive from Ebay, fit it into the slide and use that?

I’m simply confirming that there’s nothing ‘special’ about the WD supplied drives?

To assist anyone else who may stumble across this question at some time in the future I’ll answer it myself. Yes, you can use a drive purchased elsewhere and it works just fine.
