Replacement drive...Data error (cyclic redundacy check

Here’s my issue… my black 750gb laptop drive (bought in May) failed just recently, this week. Followed RMA instructions
and returned the bad drive only to receive a replacement today. I mounted the drive to format, only to see that I had to initialize the drive. The attempt was made but failed with “Data error (cyclic redundancy check)”. I believe the replacement is defective. Any help would be appreciated.
