Removing external drive from interface

The data port on my My Book 2.0 is broken and I need to remove the drive from it’s interface to access the data.  Would anyone be able to give recommendations on doing this?

If this is a drive that came with Smartware the data is hardware encrypted. You’ll have to try getting the port soldered back on or find a replacement card   https://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/70/session/L3RpbWUvMTM5MDMyNjIwNS9zaWQvZVBrTU9YS2w%3D

you can also try looking on ebay this might help you figure out the cards  http://community.wd.com/t5/Off-Topic-Discussions/Bridge-Boards/td-p/353839

I did not use any password, so I don’t know why this would be the case.  You would think if this drive came with encryption that I would at least have the option of passwording it.  The forum mentioned looks like it should be useful in pursuing this line.

The password has nothing to do with the encryption. That is done by the board with the USB connector. And it doesn’t matter if you installed Smartware or not the data is still encrypted.
