Remote not working with fast fwd

As suggested by WD Australia I needed to replaced the remote on my WD Live TV media centre. But it still does the same thing. I have a terabyte connected to the WD and this is connected to the TV. . The terabyte consists of movies I have downloaded from the tv which include ad.

But when I go into the movie and press fast forward to get past the ads and the press play again, the WD starts the movie all over again.

Does anyone have any suggestions pleaseeeeeeeeee.

Does it do the same thing on different files?

It sounds like the file is corrupt or didn’t save properly.

It happens on all files. Even before I replaced the remote it was doing the same thing.

I think it must be the WD itself. Thanks all the same though for your input.

It’s the files

they are highly likely to be missing keyframes that allow for FF and REW and are most likely the horrible .ts or .m2ts format.

also, when the previous user asked whether the same thing happens with different files,

he/she means does it happen with files that are Not recorded by the TV ?

ie. download a video from the internet and try it … it doesn’t matter where you get it from, as long as it is not anything that was recorded by your TV.

Troubleshooting Step 1: Process of Elimination

Joey,

Thanks for your advice I will give it a try. If no good, I will then convert the files and no longer require the WD.

i would recommend remuxing them as it only takes a minute and you don’t lose any video/audio quality which you will if you convert them.

if your files are .ts or .m2ts try remuxing them to .mkv using mkvmerge (included with mkvtoolnix) as this usually makes them FF seekable
