Remote back up OS3 > OS5?

I have My Cloud Mirror (1st Gen) running OS3 configured as a source for remote backups to a My Cloud Mirror (2nd Gen) destination also running OS3.

After the OS3 support ceases:
a) Will my remote backups still continue working?
b) If I upgrade my destination device to OS5, will my remote backups still work OS3 > OS5?

My Cloud OS3 and My Cloud OS5 Remote Backups are not compatible.
