Remote Access to WD My Cloud without Using www.w2go.com

I would like my employees to have remote access to the WD My Cloud NAS without having to login to the www.w2go.com website.  I know how to port forward my router.  But what I need help with is how to set up a  Windows laptop to easily connect when remote.  Do I need to map a network drive?  I see that for the Buffalo NAS  they provide software that installs the NAS as a drive in Windows.  Maybe I will just buy a Buffalo …

You can map the NAS without using WD2go if you are all within the same local network. This is currently not possible over remote networks without using WD2go. What you can do is to use the WD My Cloud app for remote connections.
