Remote access - no ability to search for a file? no way to download a file? What is the point?

Remote access - no ability to search for a file? no way to download a file? What is the point?
When I try to search, I get “There are no collections matching “X”” What does that mean - seriously?
Why can’t I download an audiobook from the drive to my phone so I can listen to it while driving and not worry about losing connection?
I just do not see the functionality of the interface - it is not what I really expected. Any suggestions to help me make use of the drive as a “cloud” are appreciated.
