Reformatting a WD External Drive so it works with Mac Time Machine

Hello,
Can I reformat my WD 3.5" 3TB Mybook Essential USB3.0 External Hard Disk WDBACW0030HBK-AESN to be used with Mac and Time Machine?

Hi SteveJJD, yes you can, but note that this will delete all the files in the external drive. 

1. select the HD on the Desktop and launch Disk Utility.
2. select the HD in the left hand page of DU.
3. click on the Partiton button
4. select 1 Partition
5. select OS X Extended (journaled) in the drop down Format menu.
6. click on the Apply button
