I recently bought a dozen of WD Red drives, all those drives look the same, with the same MDL: WD60EFRX-68MYMN1, the same DATE: 20 OCT 2014.
But the firmware is NOT the same, two drives are 82.00A82, and all others are 80.00A80.
AND those 80.00A80 are running at SATA 3Gbps with NCQ not supported!
AND one of 82.00A82 is running at SATA 6Gbps with NCQ enabled, the other one is also running at 3Gbps without NCQ.
Why? What’s happened?

Looking at Word76(0x8406=1000 0100 0000 0110b) and Word77(0x0000), Gen3 & NCQ are NOT supported, and current negotiated speed is ZERO?
AND Word84(0x4123=0100 0001 0010 0011b) indicated WWN IS supported, but WWN field(Word108-111) in IDENTIFY DATA is INVALID, even if there is a WWN printed on the drive’s case:50014EE20A80F545.

In the 3Gbps 82.00A82 firmware’s MOD02, I found a date string “09-05-2014”.
In the 6Gbps version, the date string is “10-28-2014”, NOTE that the date on the drive’s case is “20 OCT 2014”.
How can i upgrade all those drive’s firmware to 6Gbps&NCQ enabled revision?
