Recovering Backup after OS X Reinstall

Hi,

I have recently reinstalled Mac OS X (10.6.8) and am trying to recover my backuped files (around 100GB) and get a message “No writable WD Smartware partition found”.  How do I recover the backup without formatting the disk? Is there a workaround other than using the WD Smartware software?

Dude, the first question is how did you make the backup? If you were indeed using Smartware on your Mac then the drive should be HFS+ and Smartware should not give you that error, did you try a first aid on disk utility in ase the drive has minor errors?

If you didn’t use Smartware to create the backup, then Smartware won’t help you on the recovery.
