Receiving "can't backup due to I/O error"

This is all new to me - I purchased My Book - did initial back up several months ago.  Now I am trying to back up and I keep getting this message I/O error -

Backing up HP Pavilion g7-1330dx Notebook PC

Thanks

Hi,

Normally, the I/O error is related to a input or output error. Make sure to check the physical connections on the drive and the computer and confirm that the drive is being detected by the computer. If not, Test the drive on a different USB port or a different computer.

If you were connecting the drive on a front USB port, try using it on the back USB ports.

Make sure you are not using a USB cable longer than the one supplied ar connect through a hub. Also try plugging power supply directly into the outlet instead of a surge protector. I/O error sometimes indocates a problem on the drive’s circuitboard.

Joe

Thanks - will try it.
