Re: WD WorldBook edition Blue Rings

Drive spins up, but “Blue Rings” do not light up.  1TB, single drive unit, with Blue Rings.

Suspect entire controller is fried, as it is not recognized by any network software either.

Was there a “boot your PC in Linux and install just the physical drive” solution at one point?

I found several pretty simple solutions online, months ago, but now all that are available are 600 step, “this works for every drive, all the time” solutions.

Ideas?  Suggestions?

It’s just as you posted, the drive has the Linux EXT3 file system so if the internal drive itself is working fine then it should be recognized when you connect it internally to a Linux machine or in Windows if you install a program for reading EXT3.
