I also have a External Hard Drive Failure. My Book Essential, 2 TB, USB 3.0. All has been working fine since February 2012 and now it has failed and when I try to open the drive folder it stated need to reformat, Windows cannot access. When I run the diagnostic software it passes the quick test but fails on the extended stating “too Many bad sectors”. I even switched computers to make sure it was not the computer. Both are running WIndows 7.0. Need help - As my hard drive in the computers are small, I have been using the WD as a share network drive.
