hi, I want to ask about the copy paste method for My Book Essential 2TB.

I read that if I want to just copy and paste files I want, the WD SmartWare should be uninstalled.

Is is ok if I just let it installed? What is the effect?

I moved your message only because Forum Feedback is for issues with the community.  But in answer to your question, you should be able to cut/copy and paste into you My Book Essential even with SmartWare running.  SmartWare uses a folder to back up into.  So, anything outside that folder is fine and won’t be affected by the backup, nor will it affect the backup.
