Sorry to hijack your thread but I have a similar issue. I bought a new WD drive last Saturday but when I came home and opened the plastic bag that contained the disk I noticed that the black plastic part that covers the data connectors had broken off. The drive hasn’t been connected to a PC yet but I’m wondering if this is covered by the warranty. I haven’t found the time to go back to the store I bought it from.
This is not covered by warranty. You will need to fight this out with the store you bought it from.
