Random crashes

Helly everyone

Since yesterday, exactly 8 days after my warranty expired for my WD TV Live Media Player, the device decided it was a good time to start crashing randomly when playing a video…

I noticed it first with the Netflix App, I wouldn’t be able to pause, the subtitles would disappear, sometimes the movie would continue to play, sometimes it would just crash.

Then I thought, maybe it’s the Netflix App, so I tried streaming something local from my computer (through RJ45, not wifi. Wifi streaming with this decive is slow as **bleep** for some reason) and again, after 20 mins or so, the image would freeze and the only solution is to unplug the power cord.

I tried to reset to factory settings, but it didn’t change anything at all. I tried to watch my movie but it crashed again after 15-20 mins.

I’ve found  The possibility of rolling back to previous firmwares, but I’m coming here first to ask if there is no other alternatives that would be less time consuming.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hello there and welcome to the WD community.

The best thing to test right now is the firmware rollback, in case this does not work for you i recommend contacting support for further assistance:

Hi ArMak, thanks for your answer.

Strangely enough, the device worked perfectly fine today.

I do not understand what happened yesterday to cause it to malfunction so badly, especially since I resetted it more than 10 times, and resetted it to factory default did not improve anything.

It’s really weird.

I suppose the case is closed, but I’ll keep the thread open for a couple more days in case I have a problem again.
