RAID 1 replacing a WD1002FAEX 1TB Black with WD1003FZEX 1TB Black?

I am wondering if the new 1TB WD1003fzex is compatible as a replacement drive for one of my drives in a RAID 1 config of 2 older WD1002FAEX drives.

I would replace one of the 2 1002s and replace it with a newer 1003? So one drive would be a WD1002FAEX 1TB Black Caviar and the other a newer WD1003FZEX 1 TB Black Caviar. Both 64 Cache and 7200RPM

I am only asking this because WD seems to have discontinued the 1002 model. Would this setup be compatible and reccomended?? The older model 1002 is so expensive now.

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Thank you

Hello, welcome to the community.

I would always recommend to use the same drive on a RAID environment to make sure that is always working properly. Like you said the specification looks the same, however maybe the firmware is different on the drives. You might want to  contact support to clear it with them.
