Questions hdd

my models WD10JPVX‑08JC3T5 and HGST HTS541010A99E662

  1. From what year were 2.5" HDDs considered modern manufactured? all manufacturers

  2. So, a 2.5" HDD at a distance of 2cm from a large TV turn-on, and any magnetic degradation weakening in the HDD, exposure for a few minutes versus several hours or even 48 hours, is the result the same? Does the magnetic degradation in this case depend more on the strength of the external magnetic field or the exposure time?

  3. hdd 2.5" next 2cm big crt tv 29" turn on Even if the platters are more resistant to external electromagnetic waves, can these crt tv electromagnetic waves enter drive and still cause confusion in the movement of the heads, scratching the platters and causing erratic movements?

  4. Can 2.5" HDDs be used for long-term archiving data, or do only 3.5" models have different and more resistant platters and mechanical?

  5. Regarding the mechanics and lubricant, do the platters of 2.5" HDDs degrade faster with several hours of use every day, or with use powered on once a year for a few minutes? They are both in the same environment with the same humidity and temperature.

  6. Do 2.5" and 3.5" HDDs need refresh/rewrite files every 5 years or less to avoid corruption and file loss? Similar to NAND flash and other flash memory.

7)HDD 2.5" stored in 31-38C generates slow demagnetization platters?

The disks you have are old 1TB 2.5” disks. One is a laptop disk and the other is an old server disk. Best bet is a pair of USB enclosures and this will allow easy use of the disks.

I suggest plugging in the USB enclosures annually and this should be adequate.

CDR, DVDR and BDR are optical and are better for archival needs as optical disks do not get affected by magnetism.
