Questions aboutlive streaming

I’m trying to live stream from my pc, and WD live stream has been recommended as an option.Few questions I have.

  1. WD says “stream your “favorite” internet sites-----” and “many formats”. I’d like to know if this allows live streaming of any internet site being viewed on my pc, or are there limitations with this device? (I know nothing about video formats, so please be simple & clear with any explanations).

  2. what is the range of the WiFi?  Must it be in the same room?

  3. would you know if HDMI cables can be linked in series?  For what length before you lose communication?

1- You can see what services are available on page 89 of the manual.

2- The range will depend on building materials and construction, configuration of wireless products used, interference frrom other wireless signals and other adverse conditions, but you should get around 2 to 5 meters.

3- For most HDMI cables the signal should start to degrade at 30-35ft, but this also depends on the quality of the cable.

HDMI is a digital signal, so no quality loss with long cables.

Hi schwix,

Please check these paragraphs taken from Wikipedia.

-Although no maximum length for an HDMI cable is specified, signal attenuation (dependent on the cable’s construction quality and conducting materials) limits usable lengths in practice.

-With better quality construction and materials, including 24 AWG (0.205 mm²) conductors, an HDMI cable can reach lengths of up to 15 meters (49 feet).
