Question on Studio Edition II

Hi all,

I am looking to purchase the My Book Studio Edition II but had a question in regards to how it can be setup.

I thought about using it as a storing device where I would store say for example, film scans on one drive and digital raw files on the other. My question is, since it has two 1TB drives, does it show up on the desktop as one large drive? Or can it be configured to show up as two seperate drives? That way, I could label each accordingly as to what they store. My plan was to purchase the Caviar Green drives when the time came and swap them out as I continue to archive more files.

Thanks all,

Tony

You are right it shows up as one large volume.

It can only be either Raid 0 or Raid 1 configure.

It does not have a choice to configure two drives separately.

If you do not need the RAID configures, it might be better get the single big capacity drive and it cost less.

You can create two partitions, one for your film scan and the other for digital raw.

Hmm, are there any drives from WD that are able to be swapped out like this but are able to be used and displayed as two seperate drives? Is it possible to partition the two drives in the Studio Edition II?
