Question for development at WD

why is WDDMservice.exe doing excessive polling.  it is doing 40 reads per second with my system quiescent and the passport se 1TB drive not-connected. I  have smartware installed that’s okay. I didn’t enable the backup capability. haven’t decided yet.

why is WDBtnMgrUI doing 400 page faults per second?  I have 2GB of memory.  commit charge 1111/5991 mb. everything looks good non-paged/paged I have over 1GB free. same question… my mybook 2TB raid drive isn’t connected either. so why all the extra activity.

40 reads per second when its just idling or 400 pagefaults per second while idling is a lot. I am using XPSP3.

I’ll take a look at the numbers when the drives are connected and post again.

Do you have the smartware drive connected during this activity?

There’s already another thread for that, check this http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-Smartware/WDFME-exe-Process-Keeps-Running/td-p/77252, and several times during that thread was noted that  the process keeps running because it keeps scanning your computer for changes on the files to copy them next time the drive is available.

OP: check this thread.  I did make a few posts.  This issue should be fixed in the next release.  1.5.x

It’s about time… just kidding… :stuck_out_tongue:
