Put files on My Cloud and only on My Cloud

How can I put files on to my “My Cloud” but not have them mirrored sitting in a folder on my computer taking up space on the computer? I only have a small SSD in my computer. I would like to use my “My Cloud” like a normal external hard drive. It holds files, and then I access them, without them taking up space on my computer.

Really wanted to sync folders with “my cloud” that I have on another external drive hooked up to my computer. However, I believe I can only get folders to sync that are located on my main “C” hard drive, any way around this?

First, if you haven’t done so you should read the My Cloud User Manual (http://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904) to learn about the My Cloud features and options. Next, you can “map” Shares from the My Cloud to your hard drive so there is a link (similar to an external hard drive attachment) to a Share. It is typically not wise to install applications to the My Cloud for a variety of reasons, rather use the My Cloud as a location to store files.

One can use WD Sync to sync files from a computer to the My Cloud. Or use third party software like Free File Sync (http://www.freefilesync.org/) to mirror or sync files from a computer to the My Cloud.
