Purple or Red

I’m putting together a NAS for my network. Mostly for backup purposes, but will be connecting a couple of ip cameras to it as well. What drive type would be recommended for this?

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.

Depending on where you are going to use the drive you can use either one. 

If you are going to be using the drive on a Network enclosure the best option for you will be the WD Red since the WD Purple are more designed to be use on surveillance systems.
