What is the difference between accessing the public folder (or any other folder) on MBL with these 2 conventions using Windows 7?
Public (\MyBookLive) vs. Public (\10.0.1.27)
Benefits? Restrictions? Speed?

The only “practical” difference is that the former requires a NetBIOS Name Lookup when first connecting to the drive, the latter doesn’t. This might allow for a fraction-of-a-second faster connect times.
But after the initial connection and login is completed, there are no differences at all.
Thanks for clarifying.
