Public Folders

I have the previous model of My Cloud and then I bought the “My Cloud Home Duo” for my sister. The aim is to share video with her remotely without having to visit her home local network connection. I can’t connect to her public folders like the previous model of “My Cloud” hardware. How can this be achieve in the newer model of “My Cloud Home Duo”. Thanks.

Hi tans,

You can try to share the link of data which you want to share with another My Cloud Home User. Refer this KBA for further details:

I have the previous model of “WD My Cloud Mirror” and all registered users
have access to the Public Share. The Public share can be access via a smart
TV (using the “guest’ login”) where contents (Photos/Music/Videos) can be
view/stream.

I bought the new model “WD My Cloud Home Duo” for my sister as the previous
model is no longer available. The whole idea is to remotely upload these
contents without having to be at her home local network connection. I can
then upload the contents to the public share remotely where her Panasonic
smart TV can just pick them up.

Appreciate to bring back the public share (as available in the previous
model of “WD My Cloud Mirror”) accessible to all registered users.

The new model lacks many functions (refer to below screen capture as from
My Cloud Mirror)

  1. Static IP address allocation (as I understand, I need to use router
    reservation for the Home Duo)
  2. Dashboard,
  3. Backups (USB backup, Remote Backup, Internal backup, Cloud backup,
    Camera backups)
  4. User administration (Quota control, Groups setup)
  5. Share (creating share centrally to be use for workgroup)
  6. Administrator control (Web File Viewer, DLNA Media Server, etc)

Appreciate your support. Thanks.
