Problems with Active Directory authentication

Hi everybody.

I have problems with my WD and Active Directory.

I added the WD to my Windows 2003 domain, configured shares and domain user rights, and all seemed to work; then I rebooted the network drive and all domain users lost access to the shares.

The configuration through the web console seemed all right:

  • in workgroup section, the WD was still a Domain Member
  • in folder share permissions, I could see my domain users and groups

Looking deeply in the system configuration through an ssh connection with root user, I noticed that in the smb.conf there was security = user , which is wrong for domain connection; I changed it to security = ads , restarted samba, and all started to work again.

Unfortunately, every time I reboot the WD this parameter is set automatically to user; is there a fix for this?
