Problems finding Metadata

Anyone else having problems finding Metadata for some movies?

I have tried a million different ways to search for “The Ring” and “Monsters” with no success. I have also tried adding them to themoviedb using the imdb number and info (as it instructs) and it is able to find the movies, but searching by title doesn’t help. Is there any way to get the metadata short of creating it myself?

You can also add “Dream for an Insomniac” to the list that the hub doesn’t find. This one is a little more obscure, but still.

What?

No, it’s not that the Hub didn’t find it, there is nothing to find!   The contents of the record in the database are empty:

Also, after you add data to TMDB, it takes a number of hours before that data is available to the API.

I’ve been having problem finding data for 2 movies called Super/Batman Apocalypse and Super/Batman Public Enimies. My case is a little different, the meta data is there and it finds it but when it comes to downloading it, for some strange reason it keeps crashing the hub and restarting.

Anyone else have a problem like that before ?

The problem is that the HUB seems to crash if there is a “/” in the name.  There are 2 things that you can try, either edit your .xml file to not include the “/” or go to www.tmdb.org and edit the name there to not include the “/”, replace it with a “-” instead.  If you edit it a tmdb.org you will have to wait a while before it’s updated, but then you can just Get Info again and it shouldn’t crash anymore.

Dream for an Insomniac may not be in their database, but The Ring def. is. After trying to add it, it was found before I submitted all of the data. However, typing in “The Ring”, “Ring”, and scrolling through those starting with “The” it doesn’t bring it up. It’s a pretty mainstream movie.

Has anyone else been able to find at least that one? If so, what did you search for?

Its there alright, but it appears that there is something wrong with the search fuction on themoviedb

However this has been reported on the themoviedb forum

Out of interest, Dream for an Insomniac is on the database. It does not have much info.

To get Dream for an Insomniac, just type “Dream” in the box and it will come up, although it is a 4 or 5 pages down when you scroll.

The Ring, however doesn’t seem to have been added, or for some reason its been deleted.  Not even Naomi Watts will come up in the search for people.  But just because it’s a “main stream” movie doesn’t mean that it will be in the database, since it is user maintained, and it takes someone adding for it to be there.

So if you want to be able to use “Get Info” to get the data for The Ring, you’ll probably have to add it yourself to TMDB.

As I mentioned a couple of posts up from yours. The Ring is there but there is something wrong with the website search function.

Yeah, sorry your right.  The only way that it will come up is if put in the search “The Ring (2002)”  seems if you put it in without the “(2002)” it won’t pick it up.

Same EXACT problem with the same movies.  Getting content info on these films crashed or forced the Hub to restart.   I fould the solution:  http://taranu.net/download/WDTVMetaDataEditor.zip

This a great app and it found the Superman movie clip art that was crashing my Hub and now all is well no issues…man, I’m so glad I made the switch from Boxxee!
