Problems converting My Book 1TB

I am trying to convert My Book 1TB but when I try to do the conversion, I get the following message:

This drive is dirty and cannot be converted. You will need to

clear the dirty bit on this drive by running CHKDSK /F or allo

AUTOCHK to run on it the next time you reboot.

The conversion failed.

F: was not converted to NTFS

C:\Windows\system32>CHKDSK /F

The type of the file system is NTFS.

Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another

process.  Would you like to schedule this volume to be

checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) Y

This volume will be checked the next time the system restarts.

I have rebooted my system, I have no idea if the volume was checked when I restarted but if I try to convert again I still get the same message.  How can I change My Book over to NTFS…HELP!!!

See if this helps http://twogeeks.mindchronicles.com/?p=29

Thank you for the link on how to convert my WD HDD external drive but now I have a different problem converting.  I followed those instructions and this is what I’m now getting:

 C:\Windows\system32>convert F: /fs:ntfs /nosecurity

The type of the file system is FAT32.

Enter current volume label for drive F: My Book

Convert cannot run because the volume is in use by another

process.  Convert may run if this volume is dismounted first.

ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.

Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N) y

Volume dismounted.  All opened handles to this volume are now invalid.

The volume is in use by another process. Chkdsk

might report errors when no corruption is present.

F: was not converted to NTFS

Now instead of failing the conversion because of a “dirty bit” I am now being told I have insufficient memory.   I’m new at this so I’m lost at how I do not have enough memory to do the conversion.  The drive I’m converting is 1TB and I’have 866GB of 931GB remaining on the drive to use still.

Someone please help me???
