Problems accessing WD Backup on New My Passport

Have just purchased and set up new My Passport portable drive. Set up and run run first backup successfully but at the end I am unable to open WD Backup. This happened previously with older (2014) passport ultra and I assumed there was a software conflict hence purchased new my passport portable. I am tearing my hair out here as the same problem has now occurred and I have no idea what is causing it. I run Windows 10 on Dell laptop and nothing has changed recently in terms of new software or any other changes to the operating system other than I guess regular Microsoft and other possibly software updates? All previous older WD software was removed before downloading new versions too? I have reloaded WD Backup again and the same applies so am at a complete loss as to what is happening? Help anyone?
