Problem with recovering deleted files from Passport

I stupidly deleted a word document I was working on, on my WD 1 TB My Passport. I ran Recuva and Puran File Recovery and they both found the file - and both say that the recovery file quality is ‘excellent’. But when I open the document, I get an error message saying " Word experienced an error trying to open the file. Try the following suggestions:

  • Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
  • Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
  • Open the file with the Text Recovery converter.
    (C:\Users…\test.docx)"

I go through all the recommended steps in the Word Trust Centre etc etc, but nothing seems to work - I think it must be a WD specific problem. Can anyone help?

Sometimes recovered data could be corrupt and that’s why unable to open. I suggest you to recover your data using the Stellar Data Recovery tool and check if that can recovers the file without any corruption.

If that doesn’t work then you can try the file repairing tool from Stellar that helps the user to repairs the corrupted document file.

Hope that will help!

Thank you - I’ll check that one out!

The main reason behind files are not opening and showing errors is corruption with the file header or in the file data. Lastly, the file you have recovered is corrupt and not opening. This might also be due to virus or malware that make the information inaccessible. Also, there can be another reason for this issue is might be the data recovery software you are using is not up to the mark. So I would suggest you try another data recovery tool as @mikes2 has suggested Stellar free data recovery is really a good choice.
