Problem with Firewire but NOT USB

I have a MyBook Studio with Firewire 800 + UBS 2.0 formatted in NTFS.

Previously, I had it connected to my Windows 7 bootcamped iMac via firewire and everything was ok.

Reinstalled windows and the drive will not mount via Firewire. It does, however, mount via USB and does mount ok via Firewire AND USB when under OSX.

I’ve installed all the drivers and SmartWare for Windows 7.

When connected via Firewire, SmartWare says the drive has no writteable partition (but again, looks normal when connected via USB). Also, when under firewire, Disk Management sees the disk but won’t let me assign a drive letter and throw some verbose error saying the Disk Managment needs to be refreshed (again no issue with USB).

Any thoughts?

(Sorry for the crosspost).

Situation was bazaar.

I was able to access the drive, but it reqired a reformat of the disk.

Mount Via USB

Backup Files.

Delete Partion and Reformat (via USB)

Unmount USB

Mount Firewire.

Hope this helps someone in the future… hope you guys are practicing good backup policies!
