Problem with dual audio

I have recently purchased a Wd play player. I have some issues with it.
1:I am unable to switch between audio streams in dual audio files (even my 1st gen wd tv did the trick)
2:Each time I turn it on, it takes long time to boot.

Does anybody have the same issues? Did someone solve it?
Yours
Gabor.

Please give more info.

1)

What do you mean by you can’t switch?   You can change tracks but they’re silent?  Or you don’t know how to switch tracks?

How is your audio connected?   HDMI / Optical / Stereo?

How is your WDTV Play configured for audio?  Passthrough or Stereo?

What are the audio formats of the tracks in the files?

  1. It should take it only about 5-6 seconds if you’re putting it in STANDBY.  If you’re switching it completely off, then it’ll take about a minute.

1: In case I have an mp4 or avi with more than one audio stream I can find them via the menu option but just the first one works. I use the stereo jack. Can’t recall how is it configured, I think it is stereo mode.

2: it takes about 2-3 minutes almost every time I turn it on.

Is it possible that the other track contains unsupported audio codec?

It sounds lime you’re turning it off instead of putting it in standby, but 2-3 minutes still sounds excessive…

The files I checked were mp4 files and the audio streams were mpeg files. As I said there was no problem when I used my 1st gen Wd TV. Strange.

How can I put it to standby. I have an on/off switch (red). This the one I use to turn the device off…

Hello
You could solve this problem with videos DUAL AUDIO?
I have several MP4 videos here with dual audio and can not activate the second audio.
The computer and another player both audios work, but not the WD TV PLAYER.
Thank you.

Dual audio problem persist.

Please post the full TEXT output of MEDIAINFO for such a file.

http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net

Has anyone solved this? Second audio channel doesn’t work, no matter which kind of file I try.

Post the full text from mediainfo as requested.

I used MEDIAINFO, since this problem happens even when both audio channels have the same codec I uploaded 3 instances.

All the cases only the first channel plays, when I select the second channel on WD TV options it doesn’t change. This is the behavior for any file, I was never able to play a second audio channel on WD TV:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5696029/audiotxt.zip

Any clue?

The problem still persists. If anyone can help me it would be awsome. Any dual audio file only plays the first channel, no matter which codec it has.

I think this is a firmware BUG tough. If it is the case, where should I report it? Will WD TV Play ever get a firmware update?

Thanks in advance.

Am I asking something wrong?

No, you’re not asking anything wrong.   I just think no-one has an answer for you on how to fix it.

I’m guessing no one else is seeing the same problem as there’s no “Me, too” posts…

I don’t use my Play anymore (it’s sitting in a box on a shelf) – but I never had problems with dual (or more) audio channels playing back…

Thanks for your reply, Tony.

Actually I am the “me too guy”. Some people with this problem have posted in this thread before me.

I think this is a bug and my hope is that it can be fixed in a future firmware update, if will ever be an update — WD TV Play seems an abandoned product though.
