Problem with AVI file

Hi,

When I play this AVI file on my WD TV Live with the latest firmware, the sound is out of sync and also the picture stutters every few seconds. When I play it on my pc, there are no problems. I used Handbrake to make an MKV file of it, and the mkv file works with no problem on my WD TV.

Somebody who knows what the problem is with this avi file?

The issue is with GMC.  No media player based on a Sigma Designs chipset (or Realtek, AFAIK, so that’s most of them) can play files with 3 warppoints.

They play fine on PCs and I suspect they might play on Intel-based media players like the Boxee Box.

Your options are to re-encode with Handbrake, or consider trying AVI ReComp: a tool specifically for removing GMC (and QPEL, another potential issue for standalone players) .
