I use a WD elements 3TB drive to back up files on my PC., but when my PC recently crashed and I tried to transfer the backed up files to a laptop I was faced with a multitude of problems including that I could not open folders because I didn’t have permission and having got past that I couldn’t open the files therein unless I individually changed ownership on each and every file I wanted to open and there are more than a thousand. Is there any way I can globally change the permissions to get around this problem? Obviously I have admin rights on both PCs. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that to get my faulty PC running again the HDD was changed and Windows reinstalled and now I have the same problem opening the files on my elements HDD with this PC.
