Hi,

I am having a 1TB WD Passport Essential hard drive, which I dropped on floor and from then my computer is not recognizing the hard drive. When I tried to “Initialize” the Hard drive using Vista, I am getting an error “The media is write protected”. Can some one help me if could remove the write protection on this hard drive. If Yes, how.

Sorry but dropping the drive completly changes the outlook on the whole situation. Its not know what is effected when a drive is dropped otherwise they would be made drop proof. I would suggest you try data recovery to recover the data.
