Problem getting IP address from 2nd WD SMP

My first WD SMP is pluggled directly into my Netgear router. That works perfectly. I bought a second WD SMP. Because my four LAN ports are occupied on the Netgear, that one is plugged in the second port of my  QNAP TS-419P II. I can’t get it to work because there’s no IP address given. What can be the problem ?

The QNAP’s 2nd port isn’t a switch port.   You can’t do that.  ;)

installed a switch… works perfectly… Wonder why is there a second port on the NAS then… what is the function ?

Mostly for LAG Bonding, or connecting to two different networks.
