I have tried composite direct to projector composite, nothing. But after switching to my TV the component now works properly, just can’t get it to work on the projector.
Have you actually got component inputs on your projector or are you connecting via some component to s-video adaptor. If it is an adaptor can you tell us what it is. I don’t believe there is any simple way of changing component to s-video without using expensive electronics.
Just had a look at the infocus projector info and it appears there is a lead called a component to s-video lead sold as an acessory but it is not a standard s-video input connector. It has 6 instead of 4 pins.
This is the adaptor I assume that you have.
If you do have this adaptor then you plug the red, green and blue leads from the WD into the corresponding adaptor sockets. You then plug the WD lead 3.5mm jack into the ‘Y Pb Pr’ socket on the back of the WDTV (socket nearest the side). I also note its only compatible with 480i signals (and maybe 576i) and not for use with progressive signals.
The WDTV should recognise the signal from the projector but you may have to set up the component input to 480i or 576i via the internal menu. It may also be wise to set up the projector via the menus to a specific video standard and power up source, otherwise the projector and WDTV may both be waiting for each other to give out this information.
If you use the composite lead which is straight plug-in of the yellow lead from the WDTV (AV socket on back) then make sure that you have selected the correct video standard on the projector as the wrong one will give a black and white picture as you described.
