When I try to plug my passport elite in and it starts to download the drivers it stops and says it does not recognize my HD and then I get a code 43 what do I do " ?

If it’s any consolation I’m getting the same message with my Maxtor 500gig ehd after converting over to Windows 7 , yet sometimes it works ?
So I too are looking at getting a solution .
Could it be that the Maxtor 500g EHD isn’t compatable with W7
