Primary Master Position Using Cable Select

Hi:

WD’s info applicable WD2500BB hard drive indicates that using the Cable Select connections that the Primary Master will be on the IDE cable end position and the Primary Slave will be on middle position (Jumper pins in 1 & 2 on each).

However, I have a Sony VGC-RA716G desktop in which when two hard drives are connected using Cable Select they are directly opposite as to what I have just said. When connected using Cable Select the Primary Master is in the middle position and the Primary Slave is in the end position.

Does anyone have an idea a to what would cause this?

Thanks,

Drive and cable positioning should not be relevant as you can either use master/slave instead of cable select or change your boot order in your BIOS.
