PR2100 exFat USB Drive Problems after latest update

Hello everyone

I’ve updated my mycloud PR2100 to the latest firmware 5.10.122 (skipping some versions actually) and since then I’m having issues with one of my attached USB drives, which is formatted in exFat.
Files are missing and cannot be accessed, or if they show up, they cannot be opened anyway.

This only happens since I updated to the newest version and I suspect the new exFat driver is the culprit (introduced in firmware update 5.07.118). NTFS USB drives aren’t affected from it. If you disconnect the physical exFat USB drive from the NAS and directly use it with a computer, then all the files are there and usable as expected. So it’s definitely an issue with the NAS!

I tested several client OS (win10, latest macos big sur, android) all have the same issue.

Anybody else experiencing the same problem?

Any help greatly appreciated! Spent several hours already trying to fix it, but to no avail

exFAT support with Linux and OS X is buggy, NTFS seems to be better off

exFAT was not published until very recently so it takes time for support to become more common

Thx for your input. Of course exFat is a rather new file system, but I’ve been using the drive for over one and a half years without any issue. Even some months using the new mycloud os5, I didn’t have any issue. It started to show after the last firmware update, so I took a look at the release notes and realized the driver change.

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware? I’ve been using the drive daily, so it’s a pain that this feature stopped working

Same behavior, I have 6TB WD MyBook attached. After I upgraded from OS3 to OS5 to the latest (5.10.122 version)) I noticed that the number of my folders are empty when connected to PR2100. When I switch back to my PC everything is normal, I can access the files.
I also noticed that free/total details are correct (like 1.7TB our of 6TB free).
Files on my second USB attached (2TB My Passport) seems to be ok.

I tried to switch USB - hoping for the miracle  but no luck

Gave up waiting for a solution, reformatted the drive as NTFS, problem solved.
