Why would I want a hard drive with a power supply?
Because a lot of commerical computers use barely adequet power supplies. Then people begin adding USB accessories and have problems.

If you intend to connect your drive to an STB or TV or DVD, then you may find that the appliance doesn’t provide sufficient power on its USB port.
