Power Cord Plugged Into Electrical Outlet Upside Down Now Doesn't Detect

Hi there one and all just hoping somebody in here can help me,

I have a 3TB elements external hard drive that I have had for a few months and it has always worked perfectly. A couple of days ago my mother plugged it into a power bar upside down (the prongs are both the same size so it fits both ways and as she says it can’t be upside down if it goes in!). Now ever since then whenever I plug it in it goes through a rapid beeping phase 9 or 10 times then makes a different tone of sound twice then repeats this cycle 4 or 5 times before going silent. The light on the hard drive is on blinking rapidly the entire time and continues blinking after the noises stop. The device is no longer deteted on my laptop (I have checked under device manager like customer service told me and it doesn’t show up). I am just wondering if there is any way to make it work or recover the data off it since it was pretty close to full.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Brennan
