Recently my external hard drive (this is the model) has become unresponsive, in that it shows up in “My PC” when I plug it in, but without the storage info, and whenever I double-click it windows explorer becomes unresponsive. I’ve been running the chkdsk /f /x /r command multiple times on it now, the last couple of times the results hav eall looked something like this
C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk f: /f /r /x

CHKDSK is verifying Usn Journal…
A disk read error occurredc00000b5
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream.
I had this same problem a few months ago, which I believe I fixed by running the same chkdsk commands as now, but it doesn’t seem to be working this time. Can anybody recommend a way to fix the drive/recover the data?
