I received a 2TB WD Elements portable hard drive. I am attempting to access some files that I stored on the portable hard drive and view them through my Sony DVD player. “The USB device connected to this unit’s front panel is not supported” is the message I receive when I attempt to access the data.

Have you check if the drive is supported by Sony DVD player.? Some devices will let you open the drive but wont allow you to play any files if the device or the files are not supported.
What type of files are you trying to open?
Can you share the model number for the Sony DVD player?
