Port Forwarding

Hello everyone,

I have trying to setup my EX4 no.1 to back up to my EX4 no.2 — on EX4 number 2 when I go to the dashboard > settings > network and enable Remote Backup and then create SSH and Remote Backup port forwarding, if I get “Details” on either the SSH or Remote Backup forwarding the Status says: Error. I have no idea what to do or where to start looking. Any one have any ideas why this could be?

I can connect to the two devices (two different physical locations) via the wd2go.com without problems. They just wont setup to backup over SSH/Remote Backup.

Any help will be appreciated.


Hi, a few things you can check.

  • Make sure ports 873 and 22 are open on both locations you can usethis link to check if the ports are open.

  • Set both drives with a static IP on their respective network.

  • Create a rule to forward the ports mentioned before to each drive on their respective network.
