As you can tell from the number of posts, this is a newbie question: How can one identify a third generation WDTV unit? Will all such devices be “Live” models or does WD manufacture 3rd gen. Live Plus units as well?
Thanks in advance,

There should be a sticker on the device with the Product Number (P/N)
Then go to this page which lists all the Product Numbers
(Mouse over the pictures or enter the number into the Model Search)
Thanks for taking the time to help me out in such a timely fashion.

Joey: After replying to your post, I failed to find reference to “third generation unit”. Did I overlook it? Also, I did a search on forum and failed to find reference although I found info on gen 1 and 2. So I guess I am overlooking what you tried to help me discover.

The first unit on the page Joey referred you to, says: WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (Gen 3) and has a picture of the most current player. If it was a snake, it cudda bit you!
“missed it by that much”
