Please disable mediacrawler and twonky-crawler when device is busy

Hello,

right now, I am in the process of copying about 200 GB of data over a GBit Ethernet connection to the Mybook. However, I just only get about 9-14 MB/s of throughput, because (according to ‘top’) on the Mybook, mediacrawler, perl and twonky compete against each other with the ‘smbd’ process that receives the data.

May I suggest that you disable / pause updating of the media indexes while the device is busy transferring data? This causes a terrible slowdown and makes no sense, because the data on disk is still changing.

Thank you!

stefan29, your post sounds more like a good Feature Request; the best place for this, is in the Ideas Exchange section. This way someone from WD will be sure to see it and will allow more users to support your idea.

However, I would first search and make sure that there are no other active Feature Requests suggesting the same or similar improvements. If there is, then you could add your post and vote on it.
