PlayOn HD and WDTV Live Streaming

I have 3 WDTV Live Streaming boxes in my home running on hardwired gigabit ethernet, and I am using PlayOn as well as Mezzmo as Media Centers to compliment my PC library.  PlayOn has always been “meh” quality, but has lots of content.

PlayOn is now offering an upgrade to “PlayOn HD” for a whopping $7.95, but doesn’t list our beloved box as one of the supported devices.

Does anyone know if, as long as I have a compatible PC, I can use this new PlayOn feature?

Thanks in advance!

It does list the WDTV under DLNA compliaant devices.  The WDTV just doesnt have a dedicated client app built in.  Choose media servers as your source for video and the Playon will be there.

Sure. I upgraded to the HD client and PO still works fine on my SMP. The question of if you are getting HD is another issue though. I dont know of any channels that are streaming in HD besides Netflix and there is a thread in the PO forums that folks cannot get the test video to work correctly. I figured that the upgrade was innexpensive enough that I would give it a shot and hope that we get some HD channels added.
