Play Shared Music files on iPhone?

#1

Is there a way to play the files in the Shared Music folder on the iPhone?  I can view the Shared Pictures on the iPhone with the WD app, and I would like the same kind of functionality for the music.  Is there a solution now, or one in development?

Your post sounds more like an Idea or a Feature Request. The best place for this is in our Ideas Lab. This way someone from WD will be sure to see it. However, I would search first and make sure that there isn’t another idea similar to yours that you could add your post to and vote on.

I purchased and installed the PlugPlayer app http://www.plugplayer.com/

Seems to do the trick, connects via DLNA and finds the My Book World no problems! Only thing is you can’t “search” within the track, just skip forwards & backwards (hopefully provided in an update down the track).

Also streams pictures and videos, although haven’t given those a good test as-yet.

Would be good as a feature of MBWEII though, rather than purchase 3rd party apps…

Thanks.  I checked and did not see anything else like this.  I have posted an item for this suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I took a look at the tool.  It seems to me this would work on my home network, but not outside the house.  I am most interested in playing my music files when I am outside the house.

If I am incorrect about how that product functions, let me know and I will take another look.

MBWE white light already has the needed software to do music streaming to iPhone and iTunes (no hack needed). You just need to enable the iTunes service in MBWE and install an app Simple DAAP Client from the App Store (no jailbreak needed). The app requires iOS 3.1.3.

Check the following link for details:

Thanks for the suggestion.  I tried it out, and it works only when I am connected to my home network.  I am looking for this capability outside of the house.  I’ll keep looking around and hoping that WD comes through with something.
